More on the band Five O'Clock Orchestra

Since the beginning of a model for them, they were masters of New Orleans native Joe "King" Oliver, Edward "Kid" Ory, Johnny Dodds, Louis Armstrong and other great. Interviewing a representative of the British record, "leprosy" as well as counterparts from the leading family "Warsaw Stompers" Henryk Majewski at the forefront, we constantly seek to shape the personality of its own executive. Team draws attention not only authenticity instrumentation, and execution of architecture from the wording of each of the musicians, but also the choice of repertoire modeled solely on the traditions of jazz from New Orleans native.

They met in 1969. Six traditional jazz enthusiasts - Czestochowa University of Technology students and professional musicians of the Philharmonic. After several attempts to reveal the stages of student clubs, arousing great interest among the academic youth. Promising their activities and the joy of making music together - have been interrupted in 1977, "pull" to the west of Czestochowa Tadek Orgielewskiego team leader. He settled in Aachen, but in the 90s visited his hometown. Quickly gathered around her local jazz musicians, though the original group counted only "Kerry" Marshall and Andrew lace. This second generation has the band matured quickly, and more than 1000 km distance separating the Aachen and Czestochowa was not an obstacle to them the more that has already bred a young trumpeter, successfully wyręczającego team leader at the time of absence from the home country. They live surrounded by a crowd of listeners, among them many young people, zaznających flavor and charm of traditional jazz.

The band Five O'Clock Orchestra released three CDs:

CD 1 Lazy River - presented on the site: Legalez Virtual Poland

Founder and leader of the group. Scorpio, which is confirmed by the wording of its kąśliwym cornet and tropical temperament. When you want in a dream to meet with her beloved New Orleans of the past, dazed with Phil Mason recorded or "Hot Five" Louis Armstrong.
Tadeusz Kupczyk - clarinet
It comes under the sign of Leo, but the boxing gloves betrayed with jazz, and his model is Sidney Bechet. The game everything was recorded on the staff for his instrument.
Andrew Nowicki - banjo
An extremely rare case of musical excellence among engineers. Harmoniously reconciles these skills, although the banjo is fundamentally different from the logarithmic slide.
Eugene "Kerry" Marshall - double bass
Remains in incessant dilemma between two giants: the double bass and piano. In addition, trained chef and favorite Seniorita. The oldest angler, but the hook of his fishing rods hang from fish more successful musical arrangements for the team.

Symphonist and jazzman in the same person. Walks in the footsteps of Chris Barber, and Richard Wagner though it is not alien to him. Stoically tolerate jokes on his colleagues address. Nature lover, and a duet with "Kerry" wrong next optimist - fisherman, still believing in the big fish.

2nd CD Bix & Henry - Five O'Clock Orchestra & Friends
Board layout is clear: after each composition is a composition Beiderbecke'a Majewski. Here they are: 1 BM Rag (Henry Majewski); 2 In the Dark (Bix Beiderbecke), 3 JJ Dixie; 4 In the Mist; 5th From Monday to Tuesday, 6th Flashes; 7th Become a man; 8th In the Dark, the ninth Heat; 10 Davenport Blues; 11th JJ Dixie; 12 Candle Lights, 13th Bat, 14th Clouds. In "Clouds" (item 14) Agnieszka Wilczyńska sings to the accompaniment of the rhythm section.

Bix & Henry
These two had no chance to meet. When Henry was born, Bix had already been dead five years. Playing the same music, Henry was regarded as a traditionalist, Bix as an innovator. Yet they share with each other much more than just a stylistic preference. Uncompromising approach to music, the conviction that the game should give our all, without provoking cheap applause. Similar rules today professes Five O'Clock Orchestra. This is a great advantage in times when the lion's share of traditionalists commercialize a slug, and this still persists, that this music belongs to the past and no longer listens to her. A little bit wrong in that. Dixielandowcy sure the next music revolution did not perform, but still have thousands of fervent supporters, because it is in this music some uniqueness, which is not replaced by anything similar. If you do not believe, Ride to Ilawa on Old Jazz Meeting, where the Five O'Clock Orchestra has often celebrated triumphs, amounting to fame far beyond his native Czestochowa. This same, which animate life for years, and Jazz are one of the pillars of the Jazz Hot Spring (Hot-Spring Jazz Traditional Jazz Festival). This event is assisted by the recently musically, organizationally and morally Henryk Majewski. There, the maestro Ehrhardt-fought Orgielewskim Bixie discussions and other great sometimes up to five o'clock, but this morning. There, Henry promised to take part in the recording of this album, but I promise he could not. Instead, Henry appear in these recordings with other guests. Numerous and wonderful guests who have their names splendor to this album. Robert Majewski, Andrzej Jagodzinski, Wojtek Kaminski, Sergei Wowkotrub, Agnieszka Wilczyńska. This means that although only two composers variety of sounds we are enormous. From classical dixielandu sometimes tinged influences Swing Session by wowkotrubowskie original invoice number and the variables up to the great duos dziełka Bixa piano, played solo by Jagodzinski. It's hard to be bored by this album.

3rd CD New Orleans Suite - Five O'Clock Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra
"New Orleans Suite" is a unique composition. Devoted to traditional jazz band and symphony orchestra, was created by two Częstochowa: Tadeusz Ehrhardt-Orgielewskiego - jazz musician and Eugene "Kerry" Marshall - jazz musician and filharmonika the same time. For years Częstochowscy Philharmonic, as well as its successive conductors with an openness to engage in projects bordering on classical and popular music, popular, jazz, rock. After repeatedly proves at the same time its unique versatility. Professional and focused in the symphonic repertoire, kidnapped spontaneity and often genuinely surprised by the big-bandowym verve. This unique value of the orchestra was particularly useful when working on "New Orleans Suite." Classical orchestral batch order here meets the spontaneity of jazz improvisation, the rigor of the score with a relaxed swing freshness. The world of symphonic classical music and traditional jazz, are in perfect harmony, while retaining their distinct and individual character. The unique atmosphere of the Suite has its source is in the harmony, the creative symbiosis of two musical worlds, and two unique bands - Five O'Clock Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonic.

Description of the Suite - a whole consists of four parts:
1st Mississippi Morning

Many themes of music arises in connection with the views and images. The main motif is born during the voyage of imagination over Mississippi. Majestically flowing river has inspired so many works of music and painting and poetry. These sounds came while thinking about her. Along with the standards of a new day begins in rozswingowanym hundred years "Crescen City."
2nd A walk with the Lord Joplin

Scott Joplin was an extremely prolific author. He composed over 600 ragtime'ów, many of which to this day enjoys great popularity. He also wrote an opera, which unfortunately has not found the expected recognition among a wider audience. His memory devoted to this part of the suite, how difficult was the choice of topics for her! Joplin wrote yet so wonderful music! I chose to include beauty enchanting serenade his "Solace" and "Weeping Willow", which will accompany me on my last way. Part of that begins "Holy City Rag" (Souvenir of Czestochowa). Ragtime is written still in the 70s of last century.
3rd Again he left one of the great

It is hard sometimes to believe in that and those people go? How many times have thought so each of us, learning to leave at some great as always. Bowing dedicate this part of the Master Suite and the memory of my friend Henry Majewski. Theme principal passes in the "Free as a Bird" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" - music traditionally played at the funerals of New Orleans.
4th Evening in the Preservation Hall

Preservation Hall is a specific place for the protection of the environment of jazz. This is a New Orleans restaurant, which until recently performed by those who remember the origins of this music. Everyone dreams of a traditionalist stroke there. Firmly believe that, and "Five O'Clock Orchestra will perform sometime. Could not fail in this part of the work of the great son of New Orleans - Louis Armstrong. Yet we are all proud that our Czestochowa is the only city in Europe, which is the Place Louis Armstrong.

I invite you on a musical journey to New Orleans, the city unique, unique in its kind, the city where jazz was born.
Tadeusz Ehrhardt-Orgielewski

Suite - a word from the composer
I was born in Czestochowa. I'm proud of that, because the city is great. This is my homeland forever, but I'm away from him every day more than 1000 km. Are associated with the fondest memories of my life. He dedicate this suite. Why this suite is called New Orleans? It's quite simple - the New Orleans music is my homeland. Ironically, the great injustice of life is that I was not already there. How many times have I sat on the Warta River and closing his eyes, I imagined that I was over the Mississippi. I breathed the same air of imagination, what did Buddy Bolden, Joe "King" Oliver, Louis Armstrong and other great. Their lives, their works are so inspiring. But since they started it all, what today is called jazz. This unique genre of music, whose main element of improvisation is developed and is growing so fast that we often forget about its origins. The good old weir is a new generation is often quite unknown. How many times after school concerts heard laughing teenagers with paragraph question: Sir, how to properly call this cool music? This record and we want to contribute to this, to traditional jazz, New Orleans did not fell into oblivion. Improvisation was the New Orleans Overture Chris Barber and Richard Hill. Four-part composition in which only part I have a rigid structure, while others are in fact pretty loose with improvisations on the themes outlined the background slightly. It has been issued and recorded by his band, together with the Berlin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in 1987. Other works of this type not found in the literature. If you plan to write a suite, I realized that he did not, I am able to make. Soul mate turned out to be my companion away the music and team-mate, "Kerry" Marshal. On the whole zinstrumentował without his immense contribution to the work that was not recorded. I chose the commonly used technique where the composer's own motives on the canvas scroll the topics already popularized by others. Obvious that in this case it's music, which for decades is played by thousands of dixieland bands, songs that have become traditional jazz standards. I have no genius Barbera, because each part has a clearly defined structure. Participation requires a symphony orchestra, in principle, a large formal discipline but with enough space to improvise, to be able to consider this suite as a jazz song.
